Bamboo Root Barriers: Are They Worth It?

What root barriers do

A bamboo root barrier is a physical underground membrane installed to prevent bamboo rhizomes from spreading beyond a defined area. When correctly installed, they can be highly effective at containing running bamboo.

When excavation is better

Where bamboo has already spread significantly, excavation and removal is usually the more effective approach. A root barrier can then be installed to contain any regrowth from residual rhizome.
