This is a demonstration case study created to illustrate the type of work we carry out. The details are illustrative. No client information has been used.
Background
Reports of giant hogweed along an urban riverside path raised health and safety concerns for the local authority responsible for managing the route. A survey confirmed significant numbers of plants along an extended section of the riverbank.
Management programme
Temporary fencing was installed to prevent public access to the most heavily infested areas. A herbicide treatment programme was established, carried out by operatives in full PPE. Public access was restored following the first treatment season, with ongoing monitoring in subsequent years.
