Running vs clumping bamboo
Running bamboo species spread through underground rhizomes and can travel significant distances from the parent plant. Clumping species expand slowly. It is running bamboo that causes most problems for landowners.
Management and removal
Removing running bamboo requires excavating the entire rhizome system. Root barriers can prevent future spread when correctly installed to adequate depth.
