How to photograph an unknown plant
- Include a full-length shot showing the overall plant habit.
- Include a close-up of the leaves — both upper and lower surfaces if possible.
- Include a close-up of the stem, particularly where it meets the leaf.
- Include any flowers or seed heads if present.
- Photograph in good light — avoid heavy shadow across the leaves.
- Include something for scale if possible, such as a coin or hand.
